Rural Route Return

R. Gerry Fabian

You may delay
my asphalt conditioning
with traffic court logic.
But I, alone, shall decide
with whom I may run away.
This is not a highway for fools
and the only restricted rescue
is a back country dirt road.
If, within the hour, I miss
a love I have suspected;
there is always a number
to call or a text to employ
though
it may not
belong
to you.
