Mid Night

(a Rictameter)
F.I. Goldhaber

In the
utter stillness
of deep night, I close my
blinds against piercing light, cast by
solitary pole, to bask in silence.
Until an errant vehicle's
engine rumbles down my
lane searching for
neighbors.
