What Else is There?
Mona Mehas
At the end of the day, when the light is thinning and the water is rippling and the hills need climbing and we feast on the sunset, what else is there? We celebrate our connections under a blanket of moonlight where the stars almost touch the ground, twinkling, bouncing from my skin to yours. Our bodies coil and tangle together, smoothing the knots under our skin, translating you and me into us and we. During the new morning hours, our ears prickle with short hoots of owls and tiny feet crossing leaves. Fog settles over the grass, darkness bridging the gap to light. We unravel our limbs, unbury ourselves from the dried leaves and moss to face the new day and drink in the sunrise together. What else is there?
