Sea Palm

John Davis

Nearly hymnal, the rhythmic sea palm
thrives in upper level zones, a psalm
with ribbon-like blades, sharply-toothed, calms
the water, calms slushy sand. Not bombs
but branch and blade split into equal parts
like hearts interlacing grooves with balm.
