April 2nd
Martina Preston
Good morning
I’ve found some time, or it found me, or
You found us, making love in a well-lit living room
Where the everything that we can see
Stops us from noticing anything
We’re choosing to ignore
Time and I are good at this,
Good at making each other feel useful
Wanting more
So when I wake up in the morning and feel
Time’s hands running over every inch of myself
Inside and out, making me gasp
In pain and in pleasure
With the thought and the reality of being alive
(Not necessarily in that order)
I surrender to its touch
And begin the day
With a little love.
